Application Procedure

Applicants with a project

Applicants with a project are required to send in a curriculum vitae with links to previous works/projects, a portfolio, a motivation letter and the description of the project idea which they would like to further develop during the workshop in collaboration with other participants, all submitted in one PDF.

Each application including a project idea is reviewed based on their motivation letter, CV, previous work and the quality of the project idea.

Applicants without a project are required to send in a curriculum vitae with links to previous works/projects, a motivation letter with a special focus on their view of the animation industry, the motivation for joining the course and what kind of project they would like to further develop and work on during the workshop, all submitted in one PDF.

Each application which does not include a project is reviewed based on their motivation letter, CV, previous work.

Selection procedure

All applications are reviewed early June, and the group of up to 16 participants is selected by the ASF partner schools during the Annecy festival.

Each partner school is aiming at having min. 1-2 applicants selected from their school and they will have a leading voice in the selection between the applications from their graduates.

Additionally, the selection committee will prioritize diversity in genders, nationalities, project formats (short film, tv series, feature films, interactive media).

Participation Fee

A participation fee of 1.500 EUR covers all 4 modules, all hotel/hostel nights including breakfasts and lunch for 2 weeks at each school and several dinners. Travel is not included and should be planned and paid for by the participants themselves for each of the 4 modules. Those applicants who get selected to go to professional markets and festivals will get travel, accommodation and accreditation covered, but no food.

All participants will be asked to show that they have a valid European Health Insurance Card and are responsible for their self-insurance (travel) during the course.

Scholarships

We have the opportunity to give three of the applicants a scholarship. The scholarship covers the participation fee, travel, accommodation, breakfast, lunch and some dinners. If you want to apply for a scholarship, please describe the reasons why you are applying for a scholarship. 

Please note that ASF is supported by EU Creative Media which and follows the EU criteria when distributing scholarship grants. Scholarships must therefore be granted to participants either:

  • coming from low capacity countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Republic of Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia
  • being from a country not providing scholarships for this kind of training
  • participants in any other proven situation of need for financial support.
